Výstava Martina Dernera s názvom Leftovers predstavuje inovatívny a experimentálny prístup k tradičnému médiu kresby, ktorý presahuje jej bežné hranice a rozširuje ju do priestoru a objektu. Výstava predstavuje súbor diel zo širšej série Bytová situácia, ktorá sa zameriava na každodenné prostredie a predmety, ktoré nás obklopujú, pričom skúma ich estetickú a konceptuálnu hodnotu v kontexte plynutia času a opotrebovania. Bytové situácie pracujú s nájdenými fragmentmi nábytku a iných domácich objektov, ktoré umelec transformuje minimalistickými zásahmi s akcentom inteligentného humoru, čím vytvára nové významy a vrstvy interpretácie. Precízne autorské spracovanie materiálu sa stáva rituálom, ktorý vyžaduje koncentráciu a reflexiu. Opakovanie autorského gesta má nielen estetický, ale aj meditatívny a transformačný rozmer, stáva sa nástrojom na hlbšie vnímanie času a procesu, pričom zdôrazňuje plynutie, zmenu a zároveň trvácnosť materiálu. Autor tak komentuje kontinuálny proces zmien, históriu, čas a ľudskú prítomnosť, ktorá ostáva v predmetoch zapečatená. Výstava teda pracuje nielen s narušovaním vnímania každodennosti, ale zároveň kladie otázky o hodnote materiálnych predmetov a o tom, čo v našom živote zostáva, keď pominú pôvodné funkcie či významy.

The exhibition Leftovers by Martin Derner presents an innovative and experimental approach to the traditional medium of drawing, pushing its usual boundaries and expanding it into space and object. The exhibition showcases a selection of works from the broader series Housing Situation, which focuses on everyday environments and the objects that surround us, exploring their aesthetic and conceptual value in the context of the passage of time and wear. The Housing Situation work with found fragments of furniture and other household items, which the artist transforms through minimalist interventions accented by intelligent humor, creating new meanings and layers of interpretation. The meticulous handling of materials becomes a ritual that demands concentration and reflection. The repetition of the artist’s gesture carries not only an aesthetic but also a meditative and transformative dimension, becoming a tool for deeper perception of time and process, while emphasizing flow, change, and the enduring nature of material. In this way, the artist comments on the continuous process of transformation, history, time, and human presence sealed within objects. The exhibition thus not only disrupts the perception of everyday life but also raises questions about the value of material objects and what remains in our lives once original functions or meanings fade away.
